perfect peace

I went through a challenging time in my life a few years ago.  I struggled with my identity as a person and often felt hopeless and empty.  Even though I knew I was blessed and had so many, many things to be thankful for, I still couldn't find lasting joy.  I had faith in God and knew He had a plan for me, but at the time I couldn't clearly see the path.  Although I knew it must be there somewhere, I didn't see hope on the horizon. 

By the grace of God, the power of prayer, and new, dear, encouraging friends, I found my way out of that cloudy haze.  I can see that there are new dreams that God has planted in my spirit -- new journeys and adventures to look forward to. 

This painting is a reminder to me that if I feel overwhelmed or burdened and stressed out, I have to remember to cast all my cares on the Lord and He will give me the peace that surpasses all understanding.  I have to be still long enough to hear the reassurance in my own heart.  Then I'm able to see the world through new eyes and find the joy that He intended me to have all along.

 

Feeling lost and in despair isn't fun.  It's a yucky place to be.  But when my galoshes get stuck in the mud, it's hard to focus on the flowers.  Sometimes, it's best to just kick off those muddy boots and say,

"I'm going to tip-toe through the tulips!".
